things working well

things to fix, most of them small

Fix these three first

  1. Change your Google title from 2024 to 2027. It's the first thing people see in Google. Five minutes.
  2. Pick one refund policy and use it everywhere. Right now the site gives three different answers.
  3. Fix the WhatsApp button. An extra 0 in the link stops it opening a chat. One minute.

Getting found on Google 4 good · 5 to fix

✅Search your name and you come up first, with your Google listing beside it.

Anyone who has heard of you, from a friend or a review, can find you straight away. That's the hardest part for a small business and it's done.

✅Google's AI answer already mentions you for "Glastonbury 2027 accommodation".

When people ask Google where to stay in 2027, the summary at the top of the page lists The Secret Orchard with your 5.0 rating. It takes that from your Google listing, so keeping the listing up to date keeps you in it.

✅You're 11th for "Glastonbury 2027 accommodation", one place off page one.

Most people never look past the first ten results, so you're one step away. A page written specifically about staying with you in 2027 would very likely tip you over.

✅The technical basics are in place.

The site is secure (the padlock in the address bar), it has the map of pages Google looks for, and every version of your address lands in the same place. Nothing to do here.

❌Your Google title still says "Glastonbury Festival 2024".

Fully furnished luxury camping in a stunning location with everything you need to get ready in style for Glastonbury Festival 2024

Your homepage title and description, word for word, as of today. The About page says 2024 too.

This is the headline people see in Google before they ever click. Seeing 2024 makes the site look closed or forgotten, even though the page itself says 2027.

Fix: in GoDaddy, open the site settings for search (SEO) and change the Home and About titles and descriptions to 2027. About five minutes.

⚠️Of the 57 searches you show up for, only one puts you on page one, and it's your own name.

"Glastonbury glamping" was searched 8,100 times in September alone, and you're not in the top 20. The small campsites that do rank have a page for each thing people look for: 2027, bell tents, prices, getting there.

Fix: a handful of focused pages, rather than one homepage trying to do everything.

⚠️About 2,500 junk websites link to yours.

Hundreds of throwaway sites ending in .shop, .store and .online link to you. You almost certainly didn't cause this; it happens to lots of small sites. But it can make Google trust you a little less.

Fix: Google has a free tool for telling it to ignore links like these. About an hour to set up, once.

⚠️Google can't read your dates, prices and rating as facts.

Many websites include hidden labels that tell Google "this is a campsite, these are the dates, this is the star rating". That's how some results show stars and prices right in the search page. Your site has none.

Fix: these get added by whoever builds the site. GoDaddy's builder makes it awkward.

⚠️Your prices only appear after the shop finishes loading.

The booking page draws its prices in a moment after it opens. People see them, but Google and AI tools often read the page before that and find no prices at all. So for "how much is glamping at Glastonbury", you're not part of the answer.

Fix: add one plain line of text on the homepage, such as "From £1,500 for two, five nights, breakfast included".

Speed & phones 1 good · 3 to fix

✅On a computer your site is quick: 95 out of 100.

That's Google's own speed test. On a laptop or desktop the site opens fast. Nothing to do.

❌On a phone your homepage takes about 6 seconds to appear (64 out of 100).

Most people will look you up on their phone, often on patchy signal. After about three seconds, lots of them give up and tap the next result.

Fix: lighter pages and smaller photos help, but most of the delay is extra code the GoDaddy builder adds that you can't remove.

⚠️On a phone, the cookie notice covers your best picture.
Your homepage on an iPhone: the cookie notice takes up the bottom third of the screen

Your homepage on an iPhone, today.

The first thing a new visitor sees is a big gold box about cookies, sitting under your golden apple and pushing everything else off the screen.

Fix: a slim bar along the bottom instead of a big box. Most site builders offer this as a setting.

⚠️Your gallery page weighs 13.6MB, about the same as a short video.

All 50-odd photos load at full size at once, including the ones hidden until someone taps. On a phone that's slow and eats data.

Fix: shrink photos before uploading. Around 1600 pixels wide is plenty for a screen.

Accuracy 1 good · 3 to fix

✅Your homepage and booking pages have the right 2027 dates and prices.

Wednesday 23 June to Monday 28 June 2027, with tents from £1,500. The most important facts are correct where people look first.

❌The FAQ mixes up 2025 and 2027.

One answer says you're open "Wednesday 23rd of June 2025 until midday on Monday 28th June 2027". Another says the balance is due 30 April 2025, a few lines above one that says 30 April 2027. The disabled facilities answer still talks about 2025.

Small slips, but people spending £1,500 or more read the small print.

Fix: look for "2025" in the FAQ and update all three. Ten minutes.

❌The site gives three different answers on refunds.

The booking pages say the deposit is non-refundable. Your Terms say everything is paid in full upfront with no refunds, then mention a 14-day right to cancel. Last year's homepage promised refunds minus a £50 fee, and some guests will remember that.

Someone who isn't sure what happens if they can't get a ticket may simply not book.

Fix: decide one policy, write it in two plain sentences, and use the same words on the booking pages, the FAQ and the Terms.

⚠️Parking sounds free in the FAQ, then costs £60 at checkout.

The FAQ says guests can get to their car "at no additional cost", which reads as free parking. The shop then charges £60 per car. A surprise charge at checkout is a common reason people stop.

Fix: one line in the FAQ: "On-site parking is £60 per car, bookable with your tent."

Booking 2 good · 3 to fix

✅Guests can book and pay online, with cards handled by Stripe.

Stripe is the card system lots of big brands use, so payments are safe and familiar. People can book at 2am without needing you.

✅You offer phone bookings and payment plans for people who want a chat first.

Especially good for the bus and the submarine, which are bigger decisions. Keep this.

❌The WhatsApp button has an extra 0 in your number.

The button links to wa.me/4407815927876. WhatsApp needs the number without the 0 after 44, otherwise it usually can't find you. That's a lost message from someone who was ready to ask.

Fix: change the button link to https://wa.me/447815927876. One minute.

❌The site went down on Glastonbury launch day.

That's the one day of the year when the most people are trying to book at once. Basic website plans aren't built for a sudden rush.

Fix: hosting that copes with spikes, plus a ready-made message pointing people to phone or WhatsApp if the shop is struggling.

⚠️Your tents carry a "FREE SHIPPING" label.
A tent listing in your shop showing a FREE SHIPPING label above the title

From your booking page today. Parking is also labelled "Limited edition".

It's a leftover from GoDaddy's shop template, meant for posting parcels. On a tent booking it reads oddly and makes the site feel like a template rather than yours.

Fix: hide the shipping and stock labels in the shop settings.

Trust & reviews 4 good · 2 to fix

✅5.0 stars from 23 Google reviews.

A higher rating than any of the bigger names nearby (The Pop-Up Hotel sits at 4.7). Asking every 2027 guest for a review will lift you on Google Maps too.

✅Your Google Business listing is set up and verified.

It shows your rating, phone and opening hours when people search for you. It's the cheapest way to get found, and adding your 2027 dates and a few new photos to it helps straight away.

✅Your own photos are lovely, especially the tents at dusk.
Bell tents under apple trees at dusk, with fairy lights wrapped around a trunk

They show exactly what makes you different: a real orchard, twinkly lights, nothing in rows. Use more of them, and bigger.

✅The site sounds like you.

"Breakfast is on us, even on Monday" and the submarine jokes are warm and memorable. Guests can tell a real person runs this. Keep that voice.

⚠️Your Instagram name has a year in it (the_secret_orchard_2025).

Every new season it either looks out of date or has to change, and old links and tags stop pointing at you.

Fix: settle on one name with no year, such as @thesecretorchard if it's free, and keep it.

⚠️There are two Contact pages, and one says "Today: Closed".
Your second contact page, showing Hours: Today Closed

The second contact page, linked from your footer.

The footer links to a second contact page that shows "Closed". It can put off someone about to ring, and Google sees two near-identical pages.

Fix: delete the second page and point the footer at the main Contact page.
